Will I be able to buy the Mithril or Limited Edition in stores later?
Those editions will not be available in distribution and will not generally be available in stores. Any retailer can pledge in the campaign as a normal backer. We expect some retailers might do so. Those retailers will have some copies for sale after backers are fulfilled, but they would be in limited quantities and at higher prices.

Is the license for the book or the movie?
Our license is with Middle-earth Enterprises for the original books by J.R.R. Tolkien. Elements original to the movies are not in the game.

What are the differences between the Mithril and Limited editions?
Please see the Editions section of the campaign page for a list of the differences between the editions. In general, the Limited edition has multi-colored miniatures by unit type, larger game boards, the plastic 3D Minas Tirith and Mordor play areas, along with some other upgrades and improvements. The Mithril edition comes fully upgraded and with a host of bonus miniatures and other components.

What changes did you make from The Queen's Gambit?
The core structure of the game is the same: Program multi-use cards to activate forces across multiple battlefields. We greatly overhauled the card effects and dice systems, while adding strategic objectives and the resolve system, for a deeper, more dynamic play experience. Can I stretch pay when I add things in the pledge manager?
Pledge Over Time is only available in Kickstarter. Late pledges or items added on in the pledge manager later will not be eligible for Pledge Over Time.

Will this be available in other languages?
We are only able to offer English-language editions of the game. The language-dependent elements of the game will be available in other languages through the retail version, coming later from Space Cowboys.
If you want the Mithril or Limited edition components, you could pledge now, buy the retail edition later, and swap in the language-dependent elements, e.g., the cards, reference boards, and rulebook.

What is your refund/cancelation policy?
You can cancel at any time prior to the end of the campaign without being charged.
After the campaign ends, but before the pledge manager closes, you can cancel your order for a 90% refund. After the pledge manager closes you can cancel for a 75% refund, which reflects the additional expenses we have incurred in manufacturing and shipping items. We will not refund pledges less than $20.
We cannot promise a refund after shipping starts but will consider it on a case-by-case basis. All refund requests must be made to [email protected]

What are the retailer terms?
We do not have a separate retailer pledge level. Retailers are permitted to pledge as and will be treated as regular backers.

Do I have to pay VAT?
The pledge cost includes the VAT fees (shipping and product) for the UK and EU only. Other destinations will have to pay the relevant VAT separately from the campaign.

Can we do a group buy?
Due to the size and weight of the items in this campaign, they come pre-packaged in custom shipping cartons. As a result, while you are allowed to order multiple copies, we cannot offer a discount on price or shipping.

How do I know if I'm getting the Gandalf on Shadowfax mini for free?
If you signed up to be notified of the launch of this campaign, you will get the mini for free. It will not appear in your Kickstarter pledge. Instead, it will be added to your order later, when the pledge manager is opened. If it is not included and you believe it was in error, we can resolve that issue for you at that time.

No. We have never asked for additional funds from our backers and have a strict policy not to do that.

How are these different from the Retail edition?
The retail edition will be published by Space Cowboys in October 2027.
Core game play is consistent across all editions. Retail production details are still being finalized. In general, the Retail edition will have smaller game boards, the core miniatures, cardboard structures, cardboard tokens, wood track markers, and come in a single box for €99.99. Solo mode will be a separate expansion available for purchase.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
